WPT Champions Club member Asher Conniff achieved a significant career milestone by winning his first WSOP 2024 gold bracelet in the $5,000 Meeting of Champions No Limit Hold’em event.
This win not only gave him great satisfaction, but also a kind of personal redemption since his last WSOP experience during the 2022 Main Event.
The great comeback at the WSOP 2024
On Thursday, Conniff got another shot at the WSOP main stage, known as ‘The Mothership’. At the final table of the $5,000 Meeting of Champions No Limit Hold’em event, Conniff made an impressive comeback from a significant heads-up chip deficit, taking the gold bracelet and $408,468,468.

From WPT Champions Club Member to WSOP 2024 Winner
Conniff, who had already won the WPT World Championship in 2013 with a prize pool of $973,683, now joins an exclusive group of players who hold both a WPT Main Event title and a WSOP gold bracelet.
His victory in the Meeting of Champions event, the first open-field event of the 2024 WSOP, stands out even more because of the way he managed to come from behind.
Strategy and determination
For much of the final stages of the tournament, Conniff remained low on chips while Halil Tasyurek built up a big lead.
Conniff followed a careful strategy: first, survive longer than other players with few chips, and then begin his comeback.
Experience as an advantage
Winning the WPT World Championship and reaching the WSOP final table in the past gave Conniff the experience he needed to handle the pressure of the moment.
An epic ending
In the heads up, Conniff faced difficult situations, but managed to stay in the game. With the support of his friends, Conniff played all his chips with K♠10♦ against Tasyurek’s A♠10♠.
A friend of Conniff’s shouted, “They owe us some kings on this stage,” recalling their earlier elimination. And sure enough, a K♥ appeared on the flop, allowing Conniff to double his chips and turn the tide of play.
The final hand of the tournament was especially symbolic. Conniff faced an all-in bet from Tasyurek and looked at his hand, a pair of tens. He called and Tasyurek’s J♦9♦ did not connect with the board, allowing Conniff to celebrate. The same hand that caused his elimination in the biggest moment of his poker career now gave him the victory.

With this victory, Asher Conniff not only won his first WSOP gold bracelet, but also closed a chapter of redemption in his career, consolidating himself as one of the greats in the history of the WSOP 2024.
